So You Think You Can Dance!

My girlfriends and I were loyal followers of Season 5 "So You Think You Can Dance" and tonight we got to see all of our favorite performances live at the E-Center. Some of those favorite choreographed dances included Kayla & Kupono's addiction dance to "Gravity", Jeanine & Jason's dance to "If It Kills Me", Jeanine & Phillip's dance to "Mad", and last, but certainly not least, Melissa and Ade's tribute to breast cancer to the music of "This Woman's Work". It was absolutely amazing and the dancers kept us on the edge of our seats the entire time. Season 5 even had our hometown girl, Randi, in the top 10!

Ice Skating

Today was our little cousin, Aly's, 1st birthday. Her parents held her birthday party at the Acord Ice Center. After pizza, cake, and ice cream, we put Aussie in a pair of ice skates and off we went! We had so much fun!

Mama Cass seemed to be a bit more stable on the ice trying to hold him up...

He always had a smile on his face...

And took it pretty serious other times...

Happy Halloween!

Let the games begin! Today was full of fun Halloween activities. Jeremiah helped Austin carve a pumpkin for our porch, then we headed over to Poppy and Nana's house.

Austin enjoyed helping to make Halloween cookies - actually I'm pretty sure he enjoyed eating all the sprinkles even more!

Talan was the only one brave enough to stick his hands inside the pumpkin to pull the seeds out...

Austin dry heeved even at the thought of pulling them out...

He was amazed with the Witches brew...

And after mummy hot dogs and worms, we were ready to go trick-or-treating...

T-Rex - Roar!! Isn't he so scary?

The Witch, The Wizard, and T-Rex

We took the kids to a "Trunk-Or-Treat" at Grandpa and Grandma Taylor's church. It's definitely one of the best ways to keep the little ones safe.

After the "Trunk-Or-Treat", we took the kids to a few more houses around the neighborhood to pack their bags full of treats. Amazingly, Austin was exhausted and ready for bed, even after all the sweets!

Happy 1st Birthday Harley!

We celebrated Harley's 1st birthday today! Well, I guess I can't really say we celebrated, but I think Harley got to do what he loves most - run around in the yard, enjoy a few treats, sleep, snore, and fart. He also got a special trip to his favorite store, Petsmart, to pick out a new toy. Sometimes we wonder about him, but he always keeps us laughing! Love you Harley!

Pre-Halloween Activities

Lions, tigers, and bears, OH MY! October is a fun month to spend with all the kids. This morning, Jamie and I took Austin, Lexi, and Talan to the Witches Breakfast at Gardner Village. We met our cousins, Drea and Charlee there as well. It was a morning of yummy breakfast, songs and stories.

Aussie, The Wonderful Wizard
After our tummy's were all full, we all went to run around the pumpkin patch searching for the perfect pumpkins.
The kids enjoyed every minute of it! Lexi and Austin even helped themselves to a bite out of an apple - guess we're buying those too! :)

Only 14 more days until Halloween!

Just My Luck

Recently I have been able to enjoy my love for softball playing in a co-ed softball league. All I have to say is, some of the men take it way to serious! I admit, I'm extremely competitive myself, but is it really necessary to pretend or even think you should be a pro baseball player?
A little background - since I can remember, I've been playing ball which began with tee ball and coach pitch playing with the boys - the boys were so nice back then. I then moved on to the Girl's Fast Pitch League and then on to bigger and better things of playing as a freshman all the way to my senior year on my high school team. All great memories, and none of which involved too many injuries besides a few sprained ankles and torn groin muscles. I did, however, seem to have a magnet located inside my body which attracted many softballs resulting in a few bumps and bruises, but nothing I couldn't handle.
My luck would catch up to me last night as I head out on the field in the first inning to play 3rd place, also known as "The Hot Corner." As the second pitch of the inning heads towards the batter who seems to think he's Hercules, I suddenly find myself and the left side of my jaw in contact with the ball. I was able to get my mitt up to stop the force a bit, but just not quite enough. I walked in a few circles to shake it off since I've always been taught there's no crying in softball. I assure my team I'm fine to play, but as our pitcher looks over at me apparently things are not looking so good at all. My jaw is split wide open and gushing blood everywhere. Nothing a few band aids can't stop, right? I wasn't about to quit on my team, so I play the rest of the game feeling like my jaw has been completely dislocated.
It's 10:30pm at this time and all InstaCare's are closed. So I rush to my mother-in-law's and she states there's no doubt I need stitches & that I need to go to the emergency room. Oh great! I head to Alta View Hospital and as soon as the doctor saw my face he was sure my jaw was broken. Come to find out, my mother-in-law didn't want to scare me, but she sent me straight to the emergency room because of how unorthodox I was and how I was talking when she saw me. So I head in for a cat scan and await the results - thank goodness, no broken jaw. I then endure a painful process of 6 stitches and they send me on my way.
I'm still in shock that after all the years of playing softball, I never had such an exciting injury experience. I now have my official softball battle wound, and we still crushed the opposing team!

Washington D.C./Baltimore

This last weekend we had the opportunity to travel back east and explore Washington D.C. and Baltimore, Maryland. My dad was out there for work already so we just happened to plan a trip around it and it was truly amazing! Jeremiah and I flew out on Thursday the 17th and arrived in Baltimore late that night. We were excited for the trip, but also had to prepare ourselves for information overload.
On Friday, my mother, Jeremiah, and I headed to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania for a tour. It was an experience of a lifetime. That night my brother flew in and we headed straight to the Boston Red Sox VS. Baltimore Orioles game. I've always wanted to go to a professional baseball game! On Saturday we were able to all go as a family on a guided tour of Washington D.C. It began at the Old Post Office building, to the US Capitol, Washington Monument, Veterans Memorial, World War 2 Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Abraham Lincoln Memorial, and among many other things, the White House.
For Sunday's adventures, we headed back to D.C. to visit some of the Smithsonian Museums. Those sites included the Holocaust Museum, the Air and Space Museum, and the Museum of Natural History (which, I have to say, Austin would have loved!) We also walked through Arlington Cemetery, witnessed 'The Changing of the Guards', visited the Iowa Jima Memorial, and lastly headed back to the US Capitol to see all the night lights.
It was a very short trip, but very well worth it and all thanks to my wonderful parents for including us! Here's a few pictures of such a memorable experience.

Party Time!

It's been a weekend full of family, friends, laughs and parties. Yesterday was the annual Prescott Family Reunion in South Jordan. Between the kids competition of "Fear Factor", the very competitive game of Golf with the adults, and the pie eating contest, there was never a dull moment! For my father-in-law, Garth, I have always loved you and still love you after our pie fight (even though I definitely got the worst of it!)
Today we had an early birthday party for our little monster, Austin. Can you believe he turns 3 on the 20th? WOW! Time flies and he's getting so big! He is almost fully potty trained and never ceases to amaze us on the new things he learns day to day. He received many new fun toys, all of which I'm sure he won't have enough time in a day to play with! I thought I was spoiled when I was a kid - there is just simply no comparison to the things kids have these days. :)
Thank you to all of you who shared in Aussie's special day with us! We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful and loving family!
